Saying Goodbye

Today we are saying good-bye to the 2017-2018 catalogs. If you have been on the fence about a bundle, stamp set, or maybe an accessory that has been on your wish list, today will be the last day to get them.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to see projects using some of the new products!

I've been traveling this past week visiting with family out of state but have taken some time to make some mixed media art. These 2 pieces are in my art journal for I Feel Positively... 2018 weeks 20 & 21

My grandson also did this beautiful drawing using my watercolor crayons and pencils!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Shutter Card

Shutter Fold Card

The last card from this past weeks Fancy Folds class is a Shutter Card. I found the tutorial for this card on a fellow Stampin' Up! Independant Demonstrator's blog: simplysimplestamping.com . I was so fascinated by the mechanics of this card that I just had to try one (or two) myself!

From the outside these cards look like any other Gate Fold card...

These cards feature sentiments from the Apron Of Love stamp set and shapes made using the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. They also feature Painted Autumn designer paper, which is retiring at the end of this month. I also used Very Vanilla cardstock on which I stamped the sentiments.

The card on the left features Island Indigo cardstock and Island Indigo ink, and Dapper Denim bakers twine, all of which are retiring at the end of this month.

The card on the right features Always Artichoke cardstock and Always Artichoke ink, and Old Olive bakers twine, all of which are also retiring at the end of this month.

But when you open them up, there is a clever shutter mechanism created from paper.

The window in the center of this cards inside was created using a square from the Stitched Shapes framlits dies. I used the square punched out on the cards belly band as a layer for the sentiment. The shutter "doors" were fish tailed using the Banner Triple Punch.

I hope you'll try this amazing card!

Twist Fold Card

Twist Fold Card

I think this Twist Fold card was my favorite from my card class earlier this week. I found the tutorial and pattern for it on mixedupcraft.com . I chose some of my favorite retiring Designer Series papers, cardstock colors and Hostess stamp Set *Yay You! from the Stampin'Up! 2017-2018 catalog to create them.

The card on the left was created using Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White cardstock,  Basic Black Archival and Elegant Eggplant inks, and beautiful foiled Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper. I used Glitter Enamel Dots for embellishment.

The card on the right was created using Rose Red and Whisper White cardstock, Basic Black Archival and Rose Red inks, and also beautifully foiled Painted with Love Designer Series Paper. More of those beautiful Glitter Enamel Dots embellish this card as well.

The circle on both cards are created using the 2 1/4' circle punch.

This card looks complicated, but it's really easy! The recipient will appreciate the time you put in to create something so special for them!

Impossible Fold

Now I know this card is all over the blogosphere right now, but I wanted to post my take on it here just in case someone wanted to see it.

This first card features the Petal Palette stamp set and the coordinating Petal Passion designer series paper, which is retiring at the end of this month. I just love the versatility of this black and white paper pack!

The images in this stamp set are beautiful on their own, but just exquisite when you add a little color!
Speaking of color, I used Island Indigo and Peekaboo Peach cardstock on this card, both of which are retiring May 31st. I also used the retiring Glitter Enamel Dots.

The coordinating Petals & More thinlits dies added a nice touch for the label and lace that I used for the stabilization bars.

The second card features one of my favorite stamp sets, Coffee Cafe. I'm so happy that it, as well as the Petal Palette set, is carrying over into the new catalog!

The Coffee Break designer series paper that I used on the card is also retiring at the end of the month. I really love the framlits and thinlits dies that coordinate with so many of the Stampin'Up! stamp sets! It makes it so easy to cut out the shapes to add dimension and texture to your paper crafts! I used the Coffee Cups framlits dies here. More of those gorgeous Glitter Enamel Dots add a fun touch!

I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach cardstock which, you guessed it, are retiring May 31st. The stabilizing bars and cup cozy die cut on this one is in Soft Suede cardstock which is sticking aroung, but the ink color used, Chocolate Chip is not.

You can shop for any of the products I used here from my shop by clicking on their names.

As always, feel free to message me or comment with any questions you have on these or any of my other projects. I would love to hear from you!

Myths and Magic

As I promised earlier this week, here is a closer look at the first fun folds card from my classes this week. I found a tutorial for this great Arrow Fold card on www.mixedupcraft.com
I thought it was the oerfect design for these cards using the Magical Day stamp set from Stampin'Up! which is retiring at the end of the month. They are full of fun sparkle since I used Shimmery White cardstock and Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper!

Here is a closer look at the Wizard card:

It was so much fun adding the special touches like the Glitter Enamel Dot to hake his crystal ball!

Here is a closer look at the Unicorn card:

The special touch on this card is the use of Wink of Stella glitter pen on his horn!

If you would like to create your own projects using these products, you can find them on my website by clicking the links below. Please remember that many of these products will retire on May 31, 2018, so get 'em while you can!

Back in the Studio!

I finally got back into my art studio today to paint! I have been involved with a weekly challenge group where we get a key word every week to help spark our creativity and have a more positive attitude. Each week we are prompted with the phrase
"I feel positively..." and then we have a word for the week. The following mixed media paintings are for weeks 16, 17, 18 and 19 (I fell way behind!) and the words were Adaptable, Courageous, Playful and Passionate.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out!
